• Verrutop® is an advanced topical treatment used for stubborn verrucae (plantar warts) and common warts. It is applied by a trained podiatrist and is designed to target the wart tissue without the need for freezing or surgical removal.

• Unlike traditional cryotherapy, Verrutop® works by dehydrating and denaturing the wart tissue, allowing the verruca to gradually dry out and separate from the healthy skin underneath.

• What Is a Verruca?

• A verruca is a wart that develops on the sole of the foot and is caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Verrucae can appear as:

• Rough areas of thickened skin

• Painful lesions when walking or standing

• Small black dots within the skin

• Single or multiple lesions (“mosaic” verrucae)

• They are contagious and commonly spread in warm, damp environments such as swimming pools, communal showers, and changing rooms.

• How Does Verrutop® Work?

• Verrutop® contains a specialised Nitrizinc Complex® made from nitric acid, organic acids, zinc, and copper salts. When carefully applied to the verruca, it causes controlled dehydration of the infected tissue.

• The treated tissue gradually changes colour, dries out, and naturally separates from the healthy skin beneath.

• Who Is NOT Suitable for Verrutop®?

• Verrutop® may not be suitable for:

• Inflamed or infected skin

• Flat warts or suspicious skin lesions

• A full assessment will always be carried out before treatment.

• What to Expect During Treatment

• Your appointment may include:

• Most patients require a course of treatments spaced approximately 2 weeks apart, depending on the response.

• Aftercare Advice

• Following treatment, the verruca may:

• Turn white, grey, or darker in colour

• Dry out over several days

• Avoid sharing towels or footwear
