Managing Ingrowing Toenails

The definition of an ingrowing toenail is a nail that has broken through the skin at any point of the nail groove (sulcus). This would typically be accompanied by pain, and sometimes swelling, bleeding and / or discharge.

The speed at which you act to keep the area clean is of utmost importance in influencing whether to toe can be managed at home, or will need medical care by a podiatrist, GP or surgeon.

In the video below, Joanne will talk you through the following:

1.  How to keep the toe clean to help prevent infection.

2.  How to dress the toe to help prevent infection.

3.  How to pack the nail edge with cotton wool packing to improve your outcome.

If these steps don't improve your symptoms, or if they aren't possible for you to carry out, please call or email us and we will arrange the next step with you directly. You'll find our contact details below.
